Novi pazar

I would like to remind you of  one small city that is in the northeast region of  Bulgaria – Novi Pazar

In old times people were living  in these areas. The first bulgarian capital was in the city in closeness- Pliska

These areas have always been populous here. It is right from here that the Dapper Roman track started. It  connected the  Black Sea with Drastar /Silistra/ and Abritus /Razgrad. The first informations written about him date back from 1444 years ago . In his writings,  ”Ieni pazar” / Novi pazar appeared as the fortified settlement Varnenchik against the turks. Several generations of disappointed bulgarians came from here. For example,  there are known figures in  science,  art, sport…Rich commercial traditions have been replaced by new ones  in the Silikant industry, with a large number of qualified workers who produce choice paneling, porcelain ceramic products for Greece, Turkey, Holland and Russia.

There are serious skills in the woodwork industry: industry of Parquetry  flats, luggage vans, and wood families, highly rated on the European market. The food  industry is oriented largely towards the processing  of agrarian products. Surely the  improvement of  farming gives opportunities for development. The fertile land , the lack of fouling productions, the system created for irrigation, are prerequisites for accelerating the  development of the  farming industry.

A symbol of the city is the clock tower:

That is the city hall in the city

The city dwellers take walks in the capacious square of  the city.

The court hall

The school , that our children study in, is the best in the city: Take a joke . Its name derives from the first bulgarian Ruler-Czar Asparuh. At present,  430 students are educated in 1-12 classes . 44 teachers with high qualification work for them.

Thank you very much Denka for all this information about Novi Pazar and your school.
I understand that it was a very ancient city that has become quite modern. Could you tell me who was Dapper? Why do you speak of generations of “disappointed” Bulgarians? The farming and food industry seem very important nowadays in the economy of the area. What do you mean by “fouling” productions? polluting productions?
In Brittany as well and especially in inland Brittany, the farming and food industry are essential in our economy. Many farmers breed farm animals either to collect milk or to produce meat (pigs, poultry, cows, sheep for the wool and the milk, and so on…) However, farmers encounter a lot of problems nowadays and find it hard to survive. Some have converted to organic farming and now grow and sell vegetables to supermarkets and food companies. Breton farmers also grow fodder for the cattle.
I am looking forward to reading more about your region. As I don’t know anything about Bulgaria, it will be a complete discovery for me.

    Hello Denka,

I will be reading your post regularly as European people and places are of great interest to me.

I am a map fan and like to know where places are as I don’t have any idea where Novi Pazar is :-( apart from the fact that it is in Bulgaria.

Thanks for your post which gives us a first insight in your part of the world.
